Who was the late Datuk Razali Ismail – Malasiakini

After a search on the internet, finally I have some details of who he was and what was his life. He must have been a low profile humble civil servant who somehow in later stages got involved in Politics.

The late Razali Ismail was a Kuala Terengganu boy who was born in Kuala Berang in 1949. He was 59 years old when he passed away and would have turned 60 in June 2009, but that was not to be.

Razali seems to have been a career educationist and was with the Ministry of Education for a long time. In 1973 at the age of 24 he passed out of University Malaya with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree. In 1987, at the age of 38 he completed his Masters degree in Education from the University of Burmingham, England. Some of his experience in Education included

• Director, Teacher Training Division Department (2003-2004)
• Director, Terengganu State Education Department (2001-2002)

He then entered politics in 2004 when he was elected member of parliament and his days in politics was also with some achievements as follows

• Deputy Education Minister (2008-Present)
• Member of Parliament Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu (2004-Present)
• Chairman of National Corporation of Higher Education Fund PTPTN (2004-Present)
He seem to have had a very respectable and fulfilling life.

HOW DOES IT LOOK FOR BN

Now looking at the above, BN’s choice of a candidate for Kuala Terengganu was very good. This will make it even harder to find a replacement, if the replacement is a pure politician without good credentials, then BN has a problem. Quite difficult scenario for BN especially in light of the internal squabbles in Terengganu and the current national issues and lack of captainship. This election might be for BN a tall order, yet they must win in order to reverse 8th March debacle. But I must admit that it is not going to be easy.

Elections on 17th January - Malaysiakini

It will be a cracker of elections similiar to Permatang Pauh but for different reasons. Many speculations on the candidates and the spoilers but will have to wait till 7th January. The fever has started and lets see where it ends. Another nail in the sagging fortunes coffin of BN or will it be a rejuvenation.

Pakatan dont have much to lose, if they win it means another big step to Putrajaya, if they lose, no skin of their nose. As the incumbent is dead, the last challenger will win over the fence sitters. At this stage it looks like "Advantage Pakatan"

We will follow the election closely with as fair as possible of comments and reports on the election. Best of luck to both sides, may the show begin.
